2022-2023 FULBRIGHT DISTINGUISHED AWARDS IN TEACHING (DAST) SHORT-TERM PROGRAM FOR U.S. TEACHERS RECRUITMENT AND INFORMATION

The U.S. Mission is seeking applications for the 2022-2023 Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching (DAST) for U.S. Teachers program.  We encourage applications from teacher training colleges; the education ministry; local government education departments, research institutions, think tanks, educational non-governmental organizations, primary and secondary schools to submit proposals to host a U.S. teacher from two –six weeks at their institution.

The objective of the DAST program is to support education initiatives or institutions in Uganda that can benefit from the expertise of visiting U.S. teachers, and to build U.S. teachers’ knowledge of Uganda to enable them to internationalize their U.S. classrooms and schools on their return.

Eligible activities:  Institutions may propose two-six weeks of activities for the U.S. teacher including short-term lecturing, conducting seminars, teacher training, special conferences or workshops, as well as collaborating on faculty development and curriculum. Projects identified should be specific and appropriate for a short-term stay.  We are encouraged to explore placements in schools and institutions throughout the country that serve students representing the country’s diversity (including race, ethnicity, gender, religion, ability, gender identity etc.), that reach under-resourced communities including immigrants and refugees.

U.S.  Program participants:  Participants may be teachers, guidance counselors, librarians/media specialists, technology teachers, or other educators currently working in elementary and secondary education, special education, school counseling, and other areas.

Program Duration: Programs will be for approximately two to six weeks, with a preference for three or more.  Host institutions should be encouraged to be clear in the project descriptions about the minimum amount of time required to successfully complete the project.
