Ambassador Malac inspires Ugandan youth to believe in their potential, creativity, and energy.

On Saturday, August 19, Ambassador Malac attended the Seventh Annual National Youth Festival at Makerere University.

Uganda’s population is one of the youngest in the world.  Approximately 80 percent of the population is under the age of 35, and of those, 50 percent is under the age of 15.

In her remarks, Ambassador Malac said, “The United States fully supports the youth of Uganda.  Youth are at the core of everything we do here.  We believe in your potential, your creativity, your energy.  The United States has and will continue to stand with you, and we will work with you as closely as possible to help build the kind of country you want to live in.”

The National Youth Festival is recognized by the government as a platform where youth have the space to exhibit their creative potential and generate policy conversations and alternatives on how government and other stakeholders can create conducive polices and an enabling environment for youth entrepreneurial creativity.
