From June 28th to 30th, Ambassador Malac took an official trip to eastern Uganda to visit the several programs and activities supported by the U.S. government. Among the program and places Ambassador Malac visited was the Bugiri Agribusiness Initiative Development Association which is supported by the Feed the Future initiative and helps more than 3,000 farmers in the region.
Ambassador Malac gave remarks at the Ugandan-American Skill Friendship Center in Mayuge to demonstrate the Embassy’s ongoing support and efforts to provide Ugandan youth with economic opportunities.
In Mbale, Ambassador Malac toured the AGRIKOOL-YOUTH exhibit, which featured numerous young Ugandan entrepreneurs who are succeeding in various agriculture-related fields. She encouraged youth to consider a career in agriculture, which involves jobs in technology, marketing, and management, as well as farming. AGRIKOOL-YOUTH exhibition is sponsored by USAID to promote livelihoods and economic growth in the agriculture sector. The initiative plans to provide economic opportunities in related fields for nearly 350,000 youth across the country.
