American Band Visit Kampala

On May 8-9, 2015, an American bluegrass band called the Henhouse Prowlers visited Kampala as part of the American Music Abroad program.

The Henhouse Prowlers staged a show at the National Theatre, performed on NTV, learned about Ugandan musical at Ndere Cultural Centre, and hosted a master class with Kampala Music School.

At the National Theatre Kampala and NTV, the Henhouse Prowlers played a Bluegrass version of Sitya Loss along with Ugandan artist Eddy Kenzo.

Under the American Music Abroad program, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs uses bands such like the Henhouse Prowlers to create cultural ties and give overseas audiences the chance to directly interact with American artists.
