Requirement:
The US Mission in Kampala invites responsible vendors to provide training for District Health Information Software.

The District Health Information Software (DHIS) is used in more than 40 countries around the world. DHIS is an open source software platform for reporting, analysis and dissemination of data for all health programs, developed by the Health Information Systems Programme (HISP). The core development activities of the DHIS 2 platform (see note on releases and versions further down) are coordinated by the Department of Informatics at the University of Oslo, and supported by NORAD, PEPFAR, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, UNICEF and the University of Oslo. DHIS 2 (from 2008) is a continuation of DHIS version 1 developed on open source Java technologies and available as an online web application. The first release, version 2.0, came in February 2008 after three years of development releases, and the most recent (as of January 2016) version is 2.22. DHIS 2 is developed using open-source Java frameworks and tools

DHIS 2 lets you manage aggregate, routine data through a flexible meta-data model which has been field-tested for more than 15 years. Everything can be configured through the user interface: You can set up data elements, data entry forms, validation rules, indicators and reports in order to create a fully-fledged system for data management. DHIS 2 has advanced features for data visualization, like GIS, charts, reports, pivot tables and dashboards which will bring meaning to your data.

Vendors are invited to quote for training at the following levels;

Level 1 Academies
The Level 1 is meant for those who are new to DHIS 2 or have limited experience with the software.
Level 1 courses include:
The DHIS 2 Fundamentals Academy
Duration: 3 days – No formal prerequisite
A three day introduction to DHIS 2 providing a high level overview of the key features and use cases. Participants will be introduced to the three level 1 Academies on Information Use, Design and Customisation, and Tracker.

The DHIS 2 Information Use Academy
Duration: 5 days – Having attended a DHIS 2 Fundamentals Academy or a completion certificate awarded during a previous DHIS 2 Academy Level 1 or 2
A five day specialization course in health management and DHIS 2 analytics. This is an exciting combination of learning the principles and key concepts of Information Use; Monitoring and Evaluation in the context of public health and the tools in DHIS 2 to support these. Through lectures, hands-on exercises and discussion with peers and DHIS 2 experts from the region, the participants will be well equipped to enhance the use of DHIS 2 to support their daily work.

The DHIS 2 Conference
Duration: 1-2 days – No formal prerequisite
The annual DHIS 2 conference is the key regional community event that will bring together decision makers, implementers and experts from the region to share DHIS 2 experiences, discuss strategies for DHIS 2 implementation, and together provide input on how the platform can be improved. Through use case presentations, discussions and networking activities the participants will get a chance to learn what’s happening with DHIS 2 in the region and make new connections.
