Fashion Show and Entrepreneurship Reception

On November 21, the U.S. Mission Uganda in partnership with Kas Wear organized a fashion show as part of celebrations to mark Global Entrepreneurship Week.  Fashion is big business and this project gave a platform to ten up-and-coming fashion designers in Uganda’s fashion industry.

In her remarks, Chargé Trish Mahoney said “Uganda needs more businesses to ensure a sustainable future for you, your children, and your grandchildren. One way to make that happen is for people like you to direct your passion, imagination, skills, and ingenuity toward money-making, job-providing enterprises, like the multi-faceted, multi-billion dollar fashion industry.”

The winner Olivia Nanfuka will design an outfit for a diplomat for a high profile event, be profiled on the embassy’s social media, and mentored by Ras Kasozi of Kas Wear.
