Food and Fruit Drying and Processing Technical Trainer (1 position)
Peace Corps is an international autonomous agency of the US Government with operations in over 60 countries. It operates in Uganda by the invitation of the Government of Uganda. Peace Corps Uganda has memorandum of understanding with government ministries that outline broad areas of agreement of cooperation regarding the work of Peace Corps Volunteers in Uganda. Volunteers are assigned to government and non-government agencies and organizations, community based organizations, universities, colleges and schools who partner to enable Volunteers to provide capacity building in Education, Health and Community Agribusiness. Peace Corps also aims to build cultural understanding between Americans and Ugandans.
Peace Corps Uganda seeks to hire 1 Technical Trainer
Position Title: Food and Fruit Drying and Processing Technical Trainer (Short Term)
Announcement date: Thursday July 2, 2020
Closing date: Thursday July 16, 2020
Position type: Short Term Contract / 2 days. Local hire position
Reports (day to day) to: Feed the Future Program Manager
Location: Training Venue (Central Region)
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The incumbent will plan, train and evaluate participants in accordance with Peace Corps and U.S. Government requirements as well as Feed the Future requirements at a training venue where accommodation and meals will be catered for.
Specific duties and responsibilities
Area of Expertise

Design two full days training sessions that incorporate, food, fruit and herbal processing, drying and packaging as income generating activities.

Construct and demonstrate at least 2 prototypes of solar driers.

Train at least 20 participants with hands on skills of food, fruit and herbal processing, packaging and marketing.
Deliverables:

Prepare food, fruit and herbal processing and marketing lesson plans by August 30th.

Develop food processing “step by step” hand- outs and share with participants during training.

Prepare a solar drying demonstration session and deliver to 20 participants.

Deliver practical sessions to 20 participants on 2nd and 3rd September 2020.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

At least 5 years’ experience in food, fruit and herbal processing and marketing as a business.

Experience in training using adult learning methodology.

Proven experience in solar drier making
-
Proof of possession of local food processing equipment to utilize during training.
