Event: On June 11, the Ugandan Ministry of Health announced one confirmed case of Ebola in the Kasese District of Western Uganda. This is the first time that a case associated with the current outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which began in August 2018, has been identified in Uganda. The infected individual, a 5-year-old boy, crossed into Uganda from the DRC on June 9.

Additional information about the outbreak can be found by checking the World Health Organization’s Ebola situation reports and the CDC’s Ebola outbreak report.
The government of Uganda deployed personnel and supplies to the affected area and is continuing heightened surveillance in close consultation with U.S. government partners and the World Health Organization. Ugandan airports and border posts continue to conduct entry screening for travelers arriving from affected areas in DRC.
