Summary: The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Supervisor.

The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time, 40 hours per week

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time following receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties: Directs and coordinates the Embassy’s maintenance support through a multi trade staff together with regularly assigned contract personnel.  Develops routine and preventive maintenance work schedules.  Initiates and manages emergency work programs. Supervises and inspects work done by contractors reporting on their progress and quality of work.  Reviews work orders, sets priorities and co-ordinates separate trade groups and contractors to maintain synergy in the flow and distribution of works in the maintenance services department. Makes recommendations concerning the annual maintenance budget.  Preserves continuity and efficiency in the overall maintenance operations.

Qualifications and Evaluations

EDUCATION:  College or University studies.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Five (5) years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or building systems maintenance and construction fields, including at least one (1) year of supervisory experience is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have general knowledge on buildings, electrical and understand maintenance procedures and follow safety precautions. Knowledge on local building and construction codes.

Evaluations: (This may be tested)

LANGUAGE: English Level IV (good working knowledge) reading/writing/speaking is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   Must drive facility van, truck, and different GOV vehicle. Must have a valid driving license. Uses AutoCAD. Plan, implement and accomplish building maintenance works. Ability to read and understand technical engineering drillings.

Qualifications:  All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.  Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.

** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
