New medical information for Ugandan-based immigrant visa applicants

January 31, 2024

Immigrant visa applicants who have legal residence or are registered as refugees in Uganda and have an immigrant visa appointment scheduled at the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi may now elect to complete their medical examination at the panel physician site in Uganda. Applicants without legal residence in Uganda will still be required to complete their medical examination in Nairobi.  Only a physician accredited by the U.S. embassy can perform this exam; exams conducted by other physicians will not be accepted.  Applicants must complete the medical examination, along with any required vaccinations, before the scheduled visa interview date.  After your exam, the Panel Physician will either send the exam results directly to the embassy or give you a sealed envelope.  If the doctor gives you an envelope, do not open it. Instead, bring it to your visa interview and give it to the consular officer.  For more information, please visit:
