Summary: The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Procurement Assistant.

The work schedule for this position is:

Full Time, 40 hours per week

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time following receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No

Duties: The incumbent serves as Locally Employed (LE) Staff Procurement Agent for the U.S. Mission in Uganda, which includes a chancery, New Office Building (NOB) and New Office Annex (NOX), large warehouse complex, 113 owned or leased residences, USAID, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DOD) and other government agencies. Provides a variety of supplies and services in support of 30 agencies utilizing contracts, purchase orders, purchase card, blanket purchase agreement, delivery orders, and against existing General Services Administration (GSA), Department of State or other U.S. Government (USG) contracts. This includes chartering of planes, booking hotels, gathering market research and providing Integrated Logistics Management Systems training to clients (ILMS).

Qualifications and Evaluations

EDUCATION: Two years of general college or university studies is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Three years’ experience in procurement, purchasing or supply management is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: A good working knowledge of procurement regulations, instructions, and procedures, use of catalogs, contracting procedures and practices, good knowledge of local market practices and pricing customs is required.

Evaluations: (This may be tested)

LANGUAGE: English level III (Good working knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good organizational skills, sense of priorities, ability to understand and process various types of USG documents, computer skills in various programs.

Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
