U.S Embassy Hosts Teaching Conference for English Language Teachers

As part of its effort to support the teaching of the English language in Ugandan schools, the U.S. Embassy Kampala funded a conference for over 80 English Language Teachers from Western Region of Uganda. The three-day conference was held at Mbarara University Science and Technology (MUST) last week.

The theme of the conference was “Teacher Empowerment through Connections.” Presentations were led by American English Language Fellows from Uganda, Rwanda, and Ethiopia, along with representatives from the Uganda National English Language Teachers’ Association (UNELTA).

These sessions focused on innovative English teaching strategies including the use of technology and social media platforms in the classroom.

Participants also had an opportunity to learn about the U.S. Embassy’s Information resources and educational opportunities available through the Information Resource Centre.
