On April 25, in partnership with Uganda Women’s Network, the U.S. Embassy hosted a panel discussion on women’s leadership to highlight the “Invisible Barriers to Women’s Leadership in Uganda.” In her remarks and on a panel with Ugandan women leaders Prof. Maggie Kigozi, Dr. Sylvia Tamale and Ms. Betty Akullo, Ambassador Malac highlighted the work that women do in their communities and countries. “The research is clear: investments in women’s employment, health, and education have a direct connection to a country’s economic growth and successful development,” said Ambassador Malac.
The event was attended by over 100 women leaders from different sectors and students from Mbogo Secondary School as a sign of our commitment to mentoring the next generation.
