- Entry into the United States of noncitizens who are not U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents and who were present in Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, or Zimbabwe within 14 days prior to their arrival at the port of entry in the United States is suspended, per Presidential Proclamation. Suspension of Routine Processing of NIVs
- As the Government of Uganda COVID-19 precautions continue in force, our visa operation continues to be at reduced staffing levels. We are only assisting applicants with life and death emergency cases. All inquiries about visa related matters should be by email and should follow the instructions on this website. We will resume regular visa processing as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time. The MRV fee is valid and may be used to schedule an interview appointment in the country where it was purchased until September 30, 2023. Please see these notices which contain detailed information about the current status of visa services worldwide and visa restrictions related to the COVID19 global pandemic: Visa Services Operating Status Update (state.gov)
- The U.S. Mission to Uganda understands that many visa applicants have paid the visa application processing fee and are still waiting to schedule a visa appointment. The U.S. Department of State has extended the validity of your payment (known as the MRV fee) until September 30, 2023, to allow all applicants who were unable to schedule a visa appointment as a result of the suspension of routine consular operations an opportunity to schedule and/or attend a visa appointment with the already paid fee. Please continue to monitor this site for information on when we will return to routine visa operations.
